We had bought in second hand shops and also were given, so many old reels of family home movies as well as some commercially produced children's films from the 60s, that we decided to show only this historic material to celebrate Super 8's 40th anniversary. On Sunday afternoon we rearranged the tables and chairs and blacked out the windows in the bar of the 'Orange Caffe' in the centre of Kladno and in the true spirit of home movie viewing our multi-screen projection was shown on a large white cotton sheet stretched over a wooden frame suspended from the ceiling. Our five projectors performed perfectly throughout the evening and the piano and harmonica players provided the ideal accompaniment for the performance. We had asked anyone locally who was interested in home moviemaking to come along and join in the celebrations, so as well as our Super 8 films the 'birthday party' included historic Regular 8 and 16mm projections as well. The event was a great success and enjoyed by everyone, as I hope these pictures will show.
